The volunteers at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County continued their annual tradition of decorating and delivering Christmas trees to hospice patients. The group of volunteers, known as the “Christmas Crafters,” delivered more than 150 small Christmas trees.

More than 5,000 ornaments were placed on the trees. The ornaments were handmade and donated from members of the community. Crafters of all ages drew, colored, crocheted, sewed, painted and designed the ornaments for patients and their families to enjoy this holiday season.

“Despite this year’s challenges, our volunteers and community were committed to continuing this tradition,” said Amy LeVan, director of Volunteer Services at Ohio’s Hospice. “Thanks to their efforts, we were able to Scatter Kindness™ and spread Christmas cheer to our patients and families.”

The trees were assembled at the Miami Valley Centre Mall. The space was donated to help the volunteers’ efforts. The volunteers wore masks and followed social distancing guidelines.

“The patients and their families greatly appreciate the kindness of the volunteers and the community for helping make their holiday season special,” LeVan said. “We’re grateful to our volunteers at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County for assembling, making ornaments, decorating and delivering holiday trees to our patients.”
