Volunteers Needed to Help Grieving Children and Teens at Camp Pathways 2024
The Ohio’s Hospice Pathways of Hope℠ Grief Counseling Center is seeking volunteers for Camp Pathways 2024, a unique experience for children and teens ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a loved one. Volunteers are needed to help support them during the camp, June 21, 2024, at Camp Joy Outdoor Education Center in Warren County.
The camp is designed for children and teens to express their feelings of grief in a safe and fun environment. Trained staff and volunteers will lead the activities under the direction of bereavement counseling professionals. In addition to learning how to cope with and heal from loss, the children and teen campers will enjoy fun distractions from their grief including swimming, fishing, canoeing, a high ropes course, field games, a climbing wall, and a challenge hike.
Pathways of Hope seeks volunteers who can serve as a buddy to a camper of the same gender to help support them in their journey during Camp Pathways. Volunteers must be older than 18 and are required to complete applications and submit references by April 30, 2024.
Helping professionals and those studying to become helping professionals are encouraged to apply. A background check is required, and training will be provided.
