Volunteer Spotlight: Patty Stricker Making a Difference Through 25 Years of Service
For 25 years, Patty Stricker has served as a volunteer at Ohio’s Hospice. She knew she wanted to help people and that is exactly what she has done.
“I decided to be a volunteer at Ohio’s Hospice 25 years ago because I felt compelled to help people with their journey through grief, both patients and families,” Stricker explained.
Finding meaning and a purpose while working through her own grief, led Stricker to become a volunteer at Ohio’s Hospice.
Throughout her years of service, Stricker has taken on multiple roles, including supporting grief groups, working in the inpatient care center, training new volunteers, and assisting with the Speakers Bureau. For her, the most rewarding moments come from seeing the volunteers she’s trained succeed in their roles.
“Volunteering for our hospice is life changing and life giving,” she said. “Also, every time I hear a ‘thank you’ for the hospice care someone received, it makes everything worthwhile for me.”
When you have spent more than two decades helping others as a volunteer, it is challenging to think of just a memory or two as the best.
“For me, the most memorable times are when I see people who I’ve trained follow through, show-up and share the many gifts they have to offer with those patients and families we serve,” she said.
Paying it forward for other volunteers is very important to Stricker, who feels that she wants to help the next group of beginners succeed.
“We welcome you!” Stricker exclaimed, adding that Ohio’s Hospice thanks Patty for her 25 years of providing superior care and superior services to patients and their families.
Thank you, Patty, for supporting our mission!
