Staff Milestone: April Anderson Marks 20 Years of Service
Since Sept. 20, 2004, April Anderson has been providing superior care and superior services at Ohio’s Hospice.
She started out as an LPN for the Care Partners Team, while also being on the original float team. She has served as a crisis care LPN. Currently, April is a triage nurse in the Care Coordination Center.
Like many others serving at Ohio’s Hospice, a personal journey opened her path to join the team.
“I lost my mother at a young age, and she didn’t have hospice,” April said. “I had several other family members pass away and was able to experience that time with them and learn more about the process of death and dying. I wanted to learn more and learned that hospice was my calling.”
April has felt a personal connection to patients and their families she has served, while working crisis care and sitting at the bedside holding the patient’s hand as they die.
“Being there for many families, caring for their loved ones as they prepare to leave this world, and singing around the bedside with the family,” April noted are some of the memories that she has felt strong about. “I love hearing the past stories about the patient I am caring for from the families eager to tell someone. I love trying to be a blessing to each patient and family I encounter, but most times being blessed by the patient themselves and families.”
April has enjoyed caring for patients and families over the years. Whether it is at the bedside or now as she answers their calls, being that voice on the other end to listen and support them.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to celebrate my 20 years with this company and hope to be here many more,” she said.
Thank you April for supporting our mission!
