RN Charles Strawser Earns DAISY Award Accolade
Outstanding members of the Ohio’s Hospice staff are recognized every quarter with the Bouquet of Recognition Awards for going above and beyond in advocating for and serving patients.
Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County RN Charles Strawser was recognized for being a strong patient advocate and going above and beyond to ensure patient comfort in the DAISY Award nomination submitted by an Upper Valley Medical Center nursing colleague. “As a nurse myself, advocating for patients and their families is a necessary part of nursing,” ICU/PCU Team Leader Heidi Hittepole wrote. “On two separate occasions, I had patients that needed symptom management in the inpatient unit and no intake nurse available. Charles went above and beyond for these patients that desperately needed comfort at end of life. He went out of his way to make sure both of these patients received admission to the inpatient unit.”
“As a nurse of 17 years,” she continued, “I know that if my patients or any patient needs comfort care at the end of life, Charles will do what it takes to ensure that happens. He puts the patient and family first, as it should be.”
Thank you to Charles for always advocating for patients and for serving our hospice mission.
