Pre-Registration Is Now Available for Camp Pathways Grief Camp for Children and Teens
The Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton Pathways of HopeSM Grief Counseling Center is seeking volunteers for Camp Pathways, a unique experience for children and teens, ages 7-17, who have experienced the death of a loved one. Volunteers are needed to help support them during the camp, June 24-26, 2022, at Camp Joy Outdoor Education Center in Warren County.
The camp is designed for children and teens to express their feelings of grief in a safe and fun environment. Trained staff and volunteers will lead the activities under the direction of bereavement counseling professionals. In addition to learning how to cope with and heal from loss, the children and teen campers will enjoy fun distractions from their grief including swimming, fishing, canoeing, high ropes course, field games, climbing wall, and challenge hike.
Pathways of Hope is seeking volunteers who can serve as a buddy to a camper of the same gender to help support them in their journey during Camp Pathways. Volunteers must be older than 18 and are required to complete applications and submit references by 5 pm on April 29, 2022.
Helping professionals and those studying to become helping professionals are encouraged to apply. A background check is required, and training will be provided. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a completed medical or religious exemption form is also required for all volunteers.
Camp Pathways is part of the programming available at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton through the Pathways of Hope Grief Counseling Center. Support and education are provided by bereavement counseling professionals with an expertise in serving grieving children, adolescents and adults.
