Pathways of Hope Offers January “Breakaway” Grief Support for Children
Pathways of Hope Grief Retreat for Children is scheduled for Martin Luther King Day
Pathways of Hope at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton is offering a one-day grief support program designed to help youngsters and teens ages 7 to 17 who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or significant loved one. Pathways Breakaway is free of charge and participation is limited to 50. Advance registration is required.
Pathways Breakaway is a daylong, grief-focused event bringing together children who have experienced the loss of a parent or other loved one. Participants will engage in age specific group activities such as swimming, navigating a life-sized labyrinth, and playing games—as well as grief management activities involving art, music, and discussion groups.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Pathways Breakaway will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 —a day which most children will be out of school for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The event will be held at the Kettering Recreation Center, 2900 Glengarry Dr., Kettering, OH, and will begin at 8:00 am and end at 5:30 pm. Breakaway is offered at no charge, but pre-registration is required as the event will be limited to 50 children.
