Ohio’s Hospice Celebrates Bouquet of Recognition Honorees in the Third Quarter Of 2023
Outstanding members of Ohio’s Hospice staff are recognized each quarter with the Bouquet of Recognition Awards for Excellence. Honorees personify the qualities found in the mission and values of Ohio’s Hospice and are the foundation upon which a remarkable patient experience is built. These honorees consistently demonstrate excellence through their expertise and extraordinary care of patients and families. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the Ohio’s Hospice community. These are the recipients for the third quarter of 2023.
Micah Selby, team leader admissions at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, was recognized with the Carnation award for being a supportive teammate, letting teammates know how appreciated they are, and identifying what qualities teammates bring to the table.
“I have been in the medical field for nearly 30 years and have not come across management who work alongside their team like Micah,” said Erin Taylor, admission care liaison – RN. “I am nominating Micah because the small things mean more than anything when working in a position you like. He is worth gold to his team!”
Erin said that while helping a patient, she called Micah for assistance, and he calmly reassured her, helped her, and believed in her. “Micah follows up with everyone and genuinely checks on his team on a work and personal level,” Erin said. “Most of all, he helps his team.”
Congratulations to Micah for being recognized with the Carnation Award and thanks to him for his support of our mission!

Eric Van Fossen, physician assistant at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, was nominated for the Tulip Award for his compassion and care of patients and families. One patient said that during morning rounds, Eric takes time to listen to the needs of patients and how they are feeling.
When a family stayed overnight in the IPU for several nights while their mother was a patient, Eric noticed a little girl who was sleeping on the floor on an air mattress that had holes in it. Before visiting the family the next morning, Eric went to Wal-Mart to buy the family a new mattress.
“Eric demonstrates what the values of Ohio’s Hospice are all about,” said Nicole Frazier, LPN crisis care, who nominated him for the award. “It is an honor to work alongside Eric.”
