Ohio’s Hospice Celebrates Bouquet of Recognition Honorees in the Fourth Quarter of 2023

Outstanding members of Ohio’s Hospice staff are recognized each quarter with the Bouquet of Recognition Awards for Excellence. Honorees personify the qualities found in the mission and values of Ohio’s Hospice and are the foundation upon which a remarkable patient experience is built. These honorees consistently demonstrate excellence through their expertise and extraordinary care of patients and families. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the Ohio’s Hospice community. These are the recipients for the fourth quarter of 2024.

Congratulations Fourth Quarter 2023 Bouquet of Recognition Honoree Audrey Stiefel

Carnation Award – Audrey Stiefel

Audrey Stiefel is our Carnation Award honoree. Audrey, our Hospitality and Culinary teammate, embodies the spirit of servant leadership that we deeply value at Ohio’s Hospice. Her colleagues often marvel at how she seems to do the work of two people, seamlessly transitioning between her hospitality duties and cooking responsibilities.

“I’ve been a volunteer for 6½ years, and I’m continually amazed by Audrey’s work ethic,” shares one of our long-time volunteers. “She loves her job and goes way beyond what is expected to keep the Hospice House running smoothly.”

Audrey’s focus on her responsibilities throughout her shifts is truly remarkable. Her colleagues often note how she maintains her energy and positive attitude, even during the busiest days. This level of commitment doesn’t go unnoticed by her team members or the families we serve.

Join us in celebrating Audrey, whose tireless efforts and warm heart make our Hospice House a better place for all.

Congratulations Fourth Quarter 2023 Bouquet of Recognition Honoree Sonja Kendall

DAISY Award® – Sonja Kendall

Ohio’s Hospice is proud to be a DAISY Award® partner, recognizing nurses with this special honor quarterly. At Ohio’s Hospice, DAISY Award honorees are nurses who consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care.

Sonja Kendall, LPN, from our Crisis Care team, was recognized with the DAISY Award for her extraordinary compassion and dedication to our mission. Sonja’s nomination highlights her exceptional care for a resident at Legacy, demonstrating the true essence of hospice care through servant leadership, kindness, honesty, and compassion.

Her care was particularly impactful for a veteran with PTSD experiencing complex family relationships. Sonja and the hospice staff became the primary support system, Celebrating Life’s Stories® in the patient’s final hours.

A colleague said, “The compassion and respect she showed him in his darkest, final hours was inspiring. With her care and action, he was able to be comfortable and pass peacefully. She held his hand all day and till the end. I have never been so inspired. This is exactly what hospice should be. She is exactly what the heart of hospice means.”

Congratulations to Sonja Kendall on this well-deserved recognition. Her dedication inspires all in hospice care and exemplifies the high standards of our recognition program.
