Ohio’s Hospice Announces 2024 Camp Waves of Emotion Bereavement Camp for Children

Ohio’s Hospice is inviting families in the community to register their children for Camp Waves of Emotion, a free four-day grief and bereavement camp designed to support children ages 7-12 who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling, or significant loved one. The camp will take place from Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, August 2, 2024, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM each day.

Camp Waves of Emotion 2024

During Camp Waves of Emotion, children will have the opportunity to engage in therapeutic activities led by trained bereavement counseling professionals and staff. Through art, music, play, and a specially designed grief curriculum, the camp aims to assist children in identifying and expressing their unspoken feelings and processing their grief in a supportive environment.

“Losing a loved one can be incredibly difficult for children, and we want to provide them with the tools and support they need to navigate their grief journey,” said a spokesperson at Ohio’s Hospice. “Camp Waves of Emotion offers a safe space for children to connect with others who have experienced similar losses and learn healthy ways to cope with their emotions.”

Thanks to the generosity of the community, Ohio’s Hospice is able to offer Camp Waves of Emotion at no cost to participants. The camp is provided through Pathways of Hope, a grief support program offered by Ohio’s Hospice. Pathways of Hope provides various services to the communities served by Ohio’s Hospice, including grief support programs that are available free of charge to anyone in the community, regardless of whether they have received hospice services.

Registration for Camp Waves of Emotion is required, and interested families are encouraged to contact Ohio’s Hospice for more information. By providing this invaluable resource to grieving children, Ohio’s Hospice continues its mission of celebrating the lives of those it has the privilege of serving by providing superior care and superior services to each patient and family.
