Loved Ones Honored in Dayton at Ohio’s Hospice Butterfly Release

Ohio’s Hospice held a Celebrating Life’s Stories® 2024 Butterfly Release event on its Dayton campus recently to remember and honor special people who have touched our lives and live on in our memories.

Thanks for attending the Butterfly Release in Dayton

The event provided a time of healing and support for community members who have lost loved ones. As butterflies symbolize hope and transformation, the release offered a meaningful way for attendees to honor their grief journey. An estimated 350 community members gathered at the event, helping to raise more than $20,000, and witnessed the release of dozens of butterflies.

“The program served as a reminder that grief is like a butterfly. It is transformative and requires patience and time,” said special event coordinator, Candis Conley. “We must trust the process of grief as it promotes growth, resilience and empathy for others.”

Proceeds from the event support bereavement services and support our mission which is to celebrate the lives of those we have the privilege of serving by providing superior care and superior services to each patient and family. Ohio’s Hospice is a not-for-profit, community-based hospice serving Ohioans since 1978.

Harpist, Jane Thurman, and Ohio’s Hospice chaplain, Teresa McClennon, gathered to honor loved ones.

They walked the pathway of life with courage, hope, peace and love,” Conley said. “They have given us the gift of memories that will sustain us in our own lives. We are honored that so many joined Ohio’s Hospice for this special remembrance today.”
