Jody Akers Fulfilled Her Dream by Volunteering
Jody Akers found her way to being a volunteer with Ohio’s Hospice through aging parents who needed care. For nearly 26 years, she has delivered superior care and superior services to those in need.

“I have been a hospice volunteer for almost 26 years now and decided to become one when my aging parents moved to be near me in Ohio,” Akers said. “I wanted to be prepared to help them to the very end.”
Being a parent herself, Akers relished the opportunity to give back to her mother and father, as well as helping others.
The good parts of being an Ohio’s Hospice volunteer have warmed Akers’ heart over the years.
Akers says that she has found being a volunteer very rewarding, and it has been nice over the years to have flexibility in setting up her patient visits.
“To anyone considering volunteering at Ohio’s Hospice, I would assure them that you will gain infinitely more than you give and will find your time spent as a volunteer most rewarding and meaningful,” she said, adding, “Just as I have these past 25-plus years!”
Ohio’s Hospice extends its heartfelt gratitude to Jody Akers for her 26 years of dedicated service. Her commitment exemplifies the spirit of compassion and care that is at the heart of our mission.
