Volunteers at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County have decorated and will deliver 150 Christmas trees to hospice patients.  Every patient will receive one of the hand created trees.

According to Amy LeVan, Director of Volunteer Services and HR Specialist, “Most of the decorations are handmade by Volunteers and people in the community who have been working on this project since the spring.”

This community effort is further supported by the Nashville United Church of Christ whose pavilion is being used to assemble the trees for delivery to all Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County patients, in their homes, in skilled and assisted living facilities and at the hospice inpatient unit located at Upper Valley Medical Center.

“This volunteer project came from ground swell of inspiration from the volunteers themselves who organized to make this a reality,” LeVan explains. “They wanted to make sure all our patients had some Christmas cheer in their homes, and that the ornaments were made with love.”

Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County is currently serving an average of about 140 patients per day across Miami, Shelby, Darke, Champaign and Montgomery counties.
