Our Hospice House

Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton can provide personalized short-term symptom management and medical support in our Hospice House, located at 324 Wilmington Avenue in Dayton. Our Hospice House provides superior around-the-clock medical attention to assure patient comfort. Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Once stabilized, patients can return to their home setting for continued hospice support.

Visiting the Hospice House

Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no limit on the number of visitors. Our facility is a weapons free facility.

Finding Your Way to Patient Care Suites

Our staff and volunteers are always available to help you find your way. Our suites are individually numbered and signs at every hall entryway identify which rooms you will find in each hallway. To help you remember your way, each patient hallway has a unique color scheme and bears the leaf symbol and name of a tree. We have many spaces dedicated to making visitors and family members comfortable when they are here to see patients.

Family Gathering Spaces

Family lounge areas are available at the end of every patient wing for your use. The Great Room – a large and comfortable space with reading materials, group seating areas and a piano – is located on the lower level of the Colp Building. This large space is often used for family gatherings, celebrations and memorial services. Please check with the nurse’s station to reserve the room for special use on a particular date.

Visits from children are welcome. We invite families to enjoy the play center for children located in our Roll Family and Friends wing. We ask that adults supervise all children during visits. Please control noise levels and help us protect our building and grounds from damage as a consideration for all families at our Hospice House.

Pets

We welcome pets to our Hospice House. We ask that they are supervised by and adult and taken outside when needed. For the health and safety of all patients and families, visiting pets must be on a leash at all times. Pet Stations are located on the grounds to enable pet owners to pick up after their pets.

We also have animal-assisted therapy animals that visit patient rooms. Patients who wish not to have pet visits can ask to be removed from the visitation list. All of our therapy pets are on limited diets and must be on a leash when outdoors. We ask that visitors not give them pet treats and not permit them to go outside unsupervised.

Restrooms

Family restrooms include showers and are located close to patient care wings and the nurse’s stations. Hospitality kits, including soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, are available from the nurse’s stations. Additional personal care and gift items can be found at the Heartfelt Gift Shop, located across from the Chapel in the Colp Building.

A library of reading materials is available for the use of patients and families. It is located at the bottom of the stairs in the Shaw Building.

Meditation and Prayer Chapel

For those who would enjoy a quiet spot for prayer or meditation, our chapel is located in the Colp building. Our outdoor labyrinth, located outside the Colp building, also offers a lovely, natural setting for prayer or meditation.

Our Grounds

Our campus is designed to provide peace, comfort, and pleasure to patients and their families. Every Patient Care Suite includes a beautiful view of nature and the colorful gardens that grace our grounds.

Smoke-Free

While we regret any inconvenience, our Hospice House facility and grounds are smoke-free for the health of our community. Patients are permitted to smoke in our summer house with permission from their doctor. We have designated public smoking areas at the perimeter of our campus for guests. Please ask a member of our staff to direct you, or look for the red umbrella over outdoor tables on the outskirts of our campus.

Security

Our campus is a secure area. Parking areas are monitored by security camera. Security escort services are available to provide transportation to your vehicle. Visitors are invited to walk the grounds and enjoy the courtyards and ponds, but to be aware that at designated times our external doors have alarms that are activated.
