Morgan Goldsmith was touched to learn that those who visit the Hospice House at Dayton have the opportunity to memorialize a loved one by taking home a seedling plant to remind them of their loved one. When she learned that volunteers hand-decorate the pots used for the seedlings, she got busy creating an opportunity for kids to contribute.

At a summer holiday gathering at her home, Morgan set up a painting station for the children in attendance, giving many their first “volunteer” experience. The kids enthusiastically employed color and decorations to create their “designer” pots. Then Morgan and her son, Jack, proudly presented them to the Hospice House to be shared with patients and families.

Thanks to Morgan, Jack and their gathering of family and friends, those who have lost loved ones at the Hospice House can take home a living memorial to care for and nurture. The Celebration of Life is all reflected in the giving and receiving of such special gifts.
