Butterfly Release in Troy Raises More Than $13K
Ohio’s Hospice and more than 200 community members recently gathered for the Celebrating Life’s Stories® 2024 Butterfly Release in celebration of the lives of loved ones who have touched us in so many ways.
Participants of this event, including Ohio’s Hospice Chaplain, Teresa McClennon, gathered to honor and remember loved ones. After a brief program, participants and their families released a swallowtail butterfly to honor their loved ones.
“The Butterfly Release serves as a reminder that grief is like a butterfly. It is transformative and requires patience and time,” said Ohio’s Hospice Foundation Board member, Don Fodor.
Through support of our community, sponsors and partners, the event raised $13,042. Fodor noted that funds raised through this event enable Ohio’s Hospice to expand outreach, enhance our services, and help us continue to provide superior care and superior services for our patients and their family members.
Volunteerism has always been important to the Ohio’s Hospice mission, and volunteers helped with parking, check-in, distribution of butterflies, the audio system and clean-up.
We extend a special thank you to volunteers Marcia Garrett, Peg Morelli and Marsha Simpson, and to Bereavement Counselor, Tosha Reed, for their support during this event.
Thank you to our presenting sponsor Upper Valley Medical Center and to Accurate Healthcare, Brun’s General Contracting and Remembering Our Loved Ones for their continued support of our mission.
Donor and community support enables Ohio’s Hospice to keep important programs, such as Pathways of HopeSM Grief Counseling Centers, underinsured and uninsured care, quality of life needs, palliative care, and American Pride® Veteran Care.
