Tips for Caregivers: Managing Anxiety During COVID-19
The emotional weight of the COVID-19 pandemic can take a toll on anyone, especially caregivers who are caring for loved ones at home facing life-limiting illnesses. Here are a few tips to help manage stress and decrease mental overload and anxiety.
Remember that you are not alone. Anxiety is a natural reaction to the unknown and during distressing times. We are all dealing with COVID-19 and its consequences. Remind yourself that these feelings will fade with time.
Don’t be afraid to unplug for a time. Information can be an essential part of reducing stress and anxiety. And yet, information overload is real.
Remember to take breaks from the constant flood of information at our disposal via news reports and social media.
Consider giving yourself a news budget.
Limit yourself to only 15 minutes twice per day checking news reports and reading all of those email communications that are flooding your inbox.
