Bouquet of Recognition

Ohio’s Hospice Recognizes Staff With Bouquet of Recognition Awards

Outstanding members of the Ohio’s Hospice staff are recognized every quarter with Bouquet of Recognition Awards. Bouquet of Recognition Award honorees personify the qualities found in the Mission and Vision of Ohio’s Hospice and are the foundation upon which a remarkable patient experience is built. These staff members consistently demonstrate excellence through their expertise and extraordinary compassionate support for patients and families. They are recognized as outstanding role models in our hospice community.

Carnation Award – Marissa Buckles

Marissa Buckles, gift and grant officer at Ohio’s Hospice, received the Carnation Award in the second quarter.

Marissa works to understand the service needs of Ohio’s Hospice and seeks out grant opportunities to fill those needs. She is a staff member who gives time and attention to every part of her work.

Lisa Balster, director of patient and family support services at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, praised Marissa for her procuring funds for comprehensive education across bereavement counseling services.

“Thanks to Marissa’s efforts, we are now set to educate 30 Ohio’s Hospice staff members to be better prepared to work with grieving children and teens,” Lisa said.

Congratulations to Marissa on her Carnation Award and thanks to her for her dedication to our hospice mission.

DAISY Award – Brittney Chadeayne

Brittney Chadeayne, LPN crisis care at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, was nominated for the DAISY Award for her kindness, heart, poise and patient advocacy. While caring for a patient in the mobile care unit who was waiting to be transferred back to his home, Brittney played his favorite music, ensured he was comfortable and had his wife and dog with him. Brittney made the process go smoothly and remained positive during the challenging situation.

“She is the perfect example of what a hospice nurse is and should always strive to be,” said Kristy Brock, team leader of crisis care at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. “This was not the first time Brittney managed a difficult situation in a way that made a difference. I am amazed by her heart and genuine concern for her patients.”

Congratulations to Brittney and thanks to her for her service to our mission.

Sunflower Award – Tina Leckey

Tina Leckey, personal care specialist at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, was nominated for the Sunflower award by staff members at a local assisted living facility in Miami County for her extra care and attention to their residents.

Tina takes time to talk with each of her patients, explains what she is going to do, and answers any questions they have. She shows compassion, love and understanding to the patients she serves and the other residents in the facility.

While caring for a hospice patient who had very few visitors, Tina made a special effort to sit, hold the patient’s hand and talk with her so she would not die alone.

“Tina truly exemplifies the true calling of a hospice provider and is a gift sent to those in need,” one staff member wrote in the nomination.

Another staff member praised Tina for providing excellent care. “Tina is thoughtful, caring and compassionate,” she said.

A third staff member applauded Tina for her kind voice and loving spirit that carries through to her patients.

We are honored to have Tina on our Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County care team and thank her for her commitment to our hospice mission.
