Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton Culinary Staff Receives Recognition
The Hospice of Dayton culinary team earned first place honors in the 2015 Dietary Food Management Right Choice competition for our Hospice House Room Service On-Demand Meal Delivery. The service was launched this past year to offer patients personal choices on their own time frame for meals. Hospitality Manager Susan Page explains the program is a great improvement for patients. “Room Service allows our patients to order meals according to their “normal” meal habits and allows them control over what they eat. This is very important to our patients since in most situations they have lost control of so many of life’s daily choices due to their current illness.” The new system taps culinary staff members to deliver meals, which enables clinical staff who formerly did so to focus more time at the bedside with patients. The program has proven to be cost efficient while also increasing patient satisfaction.
