Privileged to Walk Through the Last Hours of Life: Dr. Anne Harper Celebrates 20 Years
Dr. Anne Harper has been a part of Ohio’s Hospice for 20 years. She’s an internist that specializes in Hospice and Palliative medical care.
“I became an employee of Ohio’s Hospice when they merged with Community Hospice, where I’ve been for a total of 20 years,” Harper said.
She was recruited to the organization by her friend, the late Dr. Leslie Harrold.
Dr. Harrold was part of the group that founded Hospice of Tuscarawas County, which was established in 1986. Her significant contribution to the Tuscarawas Community Foundation will ensure long-term support of the organization.
Since joining Ohio’s Hospice, Harper has provided superior care and superior services to each patient and family she has had the privilege of serving.
“Through the years I have enjoyed my interactions with not only my team, but also the families and patients that we serve,” Harper said.
Working for Ohio’s Hospice has given Harper a unique perspective on how to serve patients and their families.
“It is truly a privilege to walk through the last hours and days of life within individuals,” she said. “That is a sacred trust. I enjoy the academic environment that was fostered here as well. I enjoy teaching and interacting.”
Harper says that having a great group of teammates has made the 20 years of service with Ohio’s Hospice special.
“I am working part-time now, as I’m probably one of the older physicians at this time,” she said. “It is the team that makes my current job worthwhile.”
Providing consistent quality service through all the trials and tribulations that the healthcare industry is going through has remained a challenge, she added, but eminently worthwhile.
“It is a privilege to continue to serve in this fashion,” Harper said.
