Truman House Campus Dedication on Oct. 3 Honors Dr. Leslie Harrold
One of the final acts of the Community Hospice Board of Directors was to vote to dedicate the Truman House campus, a 12-bed inpatient facility, in honor of Dr. Leslie Harrold, who served the organization as medical director from 1987-2016.
For much of that time Dr. Harrold donated her services to Ohio’s Hospice and was a volunteer for the organization for the rest of her life. She died in August of 2020 and received hospice care at the Truman House.
She was part of the group that founded Hospice of Tuscarawas County, which was established in 1986. Her significant contribution to the Tuscarawas Community Foundation will ensure long-term support of the organization.
Considering her tireless efforts on behalf of nonprofit hospice care in this region, it is only fitting that the campus, which was opened in 2012, be named in her honor allowing future generations to know and benefit from her legacy.
Ohio’s Hospice will hold a special dedication event to honor the life and service of Dr. Harrold, from 4-6 pm on Oct. 3, 2024, on its campus located at 716 Commercial Ave. SW in New Philadelphia.
The dedication will feature family, friends, co-workers and community members who knew and worked with or supported Dr. Harrold in her efforts to serve the community.
The Ohio’s Hospice Truman House is easily accessible from Stark, Columbiana, Holmes, Wayne, Coshocton, Carroll, and Harrison counties. The facility opened its doors in the spring of 2012, thanks to the generous support of many donors who helped turn a longtime dream into reality.
The Truman House serves as the administrative offices and the 12-bed inpatient care center for Community Hospice (now serving the community as Ohio’s Hospice) in Tuscarawas County as well as patients in Northeast Ohio.
